For Dog Parents
About Dogstays
DogStays is a managed dog-sitting service based in Luxembourg. Dog parents send us a request, and we handle everything — matching, coordination, and follow-up. You do not search for a sitter yourself; we do the work for you.
Any dog parent in Luxembourg (and parts of Belgium, France, and Germany) who wants trustworthy, home-based care for their dog. Whether you need overnight care, daycare, or a home visit, we have a solution.
Our sitter community is based primarily in Luxembourg, but we also serve areas in neighbouring Belgium, France, and Germany. If you are not sure whether we cover your area, send us a request and we will let you know.
With a kennel or boarding facility, your dog shares space and attention with many other dogs, and their routine has to fit around the group. With DogStays, each sitter usually cares for one dog at a time, in a home rather than a facility. There are no cages, no crates, and no fixed group schedule — just a calm environment built around your dog’s own routine. Some dogs find busy, high-stimulus environments stressful, and a home setting makes it easier for them to relax.
When you find someone yourself, there is no vetting, no insurance, and no one coordinating on your behalf if something comes up. With DogStays, every sitter is reviewed before joining our community, every booking is covered by insurance, and our team is reachable throughout the booking — not just at the start.
How It Works
Submit a request through our website with your dates, your dog’s details, and the type of care you need. We take it from there.
No — and that is intentional. We match based on what is best for your dog: their personality, their needs, and the right home environment. Our team knows our sitter community well, and we put in the effort to find the right match for your dog.
We look at more than 10 factors before suggesting a sitter, including the sitter’s schedule, their home and family environment, your dog’s mobility needs, how your dog likes to socialise, and whether your dog needs a lot of stimulation or a calm space to relax. We also pay close attention to routine, since too much change can be stressful for a dog.
We review your request and match your dog to the most suitable sitter in our community. We will come back to you with a match — no browsing, no comparing, no messages to send to strangers.
We arrange a free meeting between you, your dog, and the sitter — usually 30 to 45 minutes. This is a chance for you to see the sitter’s home, watch how your dog and the sitter connect, and feel confident before any booking is confirmed. After the meeting, if everyone is happy, we confirm the booking and move to payment.
That is exactly why the meeting happens before any commitment. If you do not feel it is a good match, tell us. We will look for another option.
You can ask for a trial booking — a single night, a half day, a full day, or a weekend, depending on the service. We treat trials exactly like a normal booking, including the same pricing, so it is a real opportunity to get more comfortable with the sitter before committing to something longer.
Our Sitter Community
Our sitters are carefully selected individuals who care for dogs either in their own homes or by visiting yours. Each person goes through our onboarding process before joining the community — we do not accept everyone who applies. Anyone without prior dog experience is not accepted.
Every sitter is reviewed by our team before they can take any bookings. We look at their experience, their home environment, and whether they are the right fit for different types of dogs. We also ask each community member for identity documentation as a security measure — this is especially important for bookings that take place in your home.
It depends on the sitter. When we match your dog, we take their needs and compatibility into account — including whether they are comfortable around other animals or children.
We do our best to make that happen. Many dog parents in our community get to know a few different sitters over time, and when you make a new booking, we will try to match you with one of them. If your dog has had a good stay with a sitter before, that is always our first choice. That said, availability can change, and we cannot always guarantee the same person.
Contact us directly. We stay involved throughout the booking and will step in to help resolve any concern.

No. Our pricing is the same for all dogs, regardless of size, and does not change based on how many walks your dog needs. We believe all dogs deserve equal care and attention.
Yes. Overnight bookings of more than 10 nights receive a 10% discount, up to a maximum of €100. This discount does not apply to bookings between 15 December and 15 January.
Overnight Care FAQs
A 24-hour service for when you are away for a night, a weekend, or longer — for travel, work trips, or any time you need someone with your dog around the clock. You can choose to have a sitter stay in your home, or have your dog stay at a sitter’s home.
If a sitter stays in your home, your dog stays in a familiar environment, which can be a good fit for multi-dog households, senior dogs, or dogs that find new places stressful. If your dog stays at the sitter’s home, they join a vetted sitter or sitting family in a different but equally home-based setting, matched to your dog’s needs.
Walks, feeding (you provide the food), playtime, medication or supplements if needed, and regular updates so you know how your dog is doing.
You submit a request with a start date and time, and an end date and time. If you are not sure of exact timings yet, you can block the full start and end dates and confirm the exact times later. We then match you to a sitter, arrange a meeting at the booking location, and once you are comfortable proceeding, we confirm the booking after payment.
Daycare FAQs
A service for days when you need extra support — a long workday, an event, or just some company for your dog during the day. You can choose a full day (around 8 hours) or a half day (around 4 hours), at your home or the sitter’s.
Both options exist. A one-time request lets you choose specific dates. A weekly request lets you tell us which days of the week and what timings you need, and we build a list of dates from there.
For bookings that span several dates, we often need more than one sitter from our community to cover everything. We will always let you know in advance and arrange a meeting with anyone new before confirming.
Walks, feeding during the day if needed (you provide the food), playtime and stimulation, medication or supplements if needed, and regular updates.
Home Visit FAQs
A short visit, between 1 and 1.5 hours, for feeding, a walk, playtime, or just a check-in during the day. It is ideal if your dog doesn’t need full daycare but would benefit from a midday break.
Currently one visit per day. You can include up to 15 dates in a single request — if you need more, you can send us another request.
We will always try to match you with a single sitter who can cover every date in your request. If that isn’t possible, we may use two sitters to cover the full list between them — never more than two — and we will arrange a meeting with each before confirming anything.
Payments & Cancellations
Payment is made after the introductory meeting, once you and the sitter are both happy to go ahead. You do not pay anything before the meeting. You pay 20% of the total upfront; the rest is paid directly to the sitter at the end of the booking.
It depends on when your booking starts:
- Bookings starting between 16 January and 15 November: If you cancel less than 30 days before the start date, the 20% deposit is not refunded.
- Bookings starting between 16 November and 15 January: If you cancel less than 60 days before the start date, the 20% deposit is not refunded.
If you cancel before either of those time limits, you will receive a full refund. The €2 processing fee is non-refundable in all cases.
Daycare deposits are non-refundable, since the sitter’s time has already been reserved for your dog. If you let us know at least 7 days in advance, we will do our best to reschedule to a date that works for both you and the sitter.
We will do our best to find a replacement from our community. If we cannot, you will receive a full refund.
Contact us as early as possible and we will do our best to help. Changes depend on sitter availability.
Peace of Mind
Yes. All confirmed DogStays bookings are protected by the DogStays Shield — our third-party liability insurance for sitters in our community. This covers situations such as property damage, injury to a third party, or an incident involving your dog during the booking. Read the full details here
You can contact us at any point. We coordinate between you and the sitter and will step in if anything needs to be resolved. You are never left to manage a problem alone.
Every sitter in our community has been reviewed and approved by our team, and we ask each sitter for identity documentation before they can take bookings. The introductory meeting also gives you the chance to see the environment and the person looking after your dog before you commit. If anything does not feel right, tell us.
The sitter will act immediately and contact you. We are also reachable and will help coordinate if needed.
Often, yes. We can sometimes arrange pick-up or drop-off, or care for another pet at home (like a cat) if the sitter is already coming to your home for your dog. This depends on the sitter’s availability, so let us know your needs when you send your request.
