5th Entrepreneurial Project
On starting DogStays and building a personalized pet care network: "I started DogStays because I saw firsthand how challenging it was for expatriates and others to find trusted, personalized care for their dogs. My goal from day one has been to provide a safe, homely environment for each dog, not just another kennel. Every dog deserves individualized attention, and we’ve built an entire community around that simple belief."

On the unique value of DogStays: "DogStays is unique because it’s designed entirely around the needs of the dog. We don't offer one-size-fits-all solutions. Every dog has their own personality, preferences, and quirks, and we embrace that. It’s about making them feel at home when they can’t be at home. That’s what makes us different."

On challenges and support in her entrepreneurial journey: "Running a business on your own is a challenge, but the support I’ve received, from local entrepreneurship initiatives to my incredible network of peers, has been invaluable. You can’t do it all alone—you need a circle of support, whether it’s mentors, friends, or fellow entrepreneurs who’ve been there and understand the ups and downs."

On the emotional rewards of building the DogStays network: "What surprised me the most was the emotional connection our dog sitters form with the dogs. Many of them miss having dogs in their lives, and DogStays has given them a way to reconnect with that love, while also helping dog owners who need reliable care. It’s a beautiful thing to see that bond develop."

On advice for aspiring entrepreneurs: "Starting a business takes more than a great idea—you need structure and organization from day one. My advice is to surround yourself with people who are supportive, read as much as you can, and embrace the learning process. The journey is never straightforward, but that’s where growth happens."
