Thank you for choosing to be a trusted member of our dog sitter community.

If you are offering services in a dog parent’s own home (Daycare or Overnight Care) your role is essential in ensuring that not only do dogs receive the care, attention and love they need, but we maintain the highest standards throughout each booking.

This guide outlines what is allowed, not allowed and the overall expectations from you in these situations. These will help both you and us ensure the highest standards of care are met for both dogs and dog parents.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

Professionalism and Respect:

Always maintain a professional attitude and treat the dog parent’s home with care. Do not engage in illegal activity, or behave inappropriately at any time during the booking. Remember that the dog parent’s home is not a vacation property and your role is to focus on caring for the dog and maintaining a responsible and respectful presence.

Communication

Keep clear, timely, and honest communication with the dog parent. Provide regular updates and promptly inform them of any issues or concerns regarding the dog or the home.

Privacy

Respect the privacy of the dog parent and their household. Only access areas and belongings that you have been given explicit permission to use.

Safety

The safety of the dog is your top priority. Adhere to all care instructions, stay vigilant about the dog’s environment, and be prepared for emergencies.

Tidiness

Ensure the home is left as clean and tidy as you found it. Clean up after yourself and the dog, and make sure the space is well-maintained throughout your stay.

Specific points regarding what is not acceptable during your stay at a dog parent’s home:

1. No Guests Allowed: Never bring any visitors, family members, or other pets into the dog parent’s home   unless you have clear and written permission from the dog parent in advance.

2.  Leaving the Dog Alone Longer Than Instructed: Follow the dog parent’s instructions about leaving the dog alone. Some dogs may have separation anxiety and should not be left unattended for extended periods. Also, if the service you are providing is overnight care, you are expected to be with the dog through the night unless otherwise discussed and agreed on with the dog parent.

3. Parties or Gatherings: Hosting parties, gatherings, or any social events in the dog parent’s home is strictly prohibited.

4. Creating Noise: Be mindful of noise levels, especially late at night or early in the morning. Avoid loud music, TV, or activities that could disturb neighbours or stress the dog.

5. Engaging in Activities That Could Create a Nuisance: Refrain from behaviours or actions that could disturb neighbours or create tension in the community, such as leaving trash out or parking in restricted areas.

6. Home Security: Lock doors and windows as instructed by the dog parent when leaving the house, even for a short walk. Ensure the home remains secure at all times.

7. Consuming Personal Items: Do not consume food, beverages, or other supplies in the dog parent’s home unless the dog parent has given you permission. Always bring your own snacks and toiletries for the duration of your stay.

8. Avoid Making Assumptions: If you’re unsure about any aspect of the dog’s care or house rules, ask us at DogStays or ask the dog parent rather than guessing.

9. Unauthorised Photography or Sharing: Respect the privacy of the dog parent and never take photos or share any details about their home with their permission.

Not adhering to these standards or engaging in any unprofessional behaviour can impact the safety and well-being of the dogs, as well as the trust between DogStays, you and dog parents. Depending on the situation, such behaviour could result in a warning, suspension of opportunities, or, in more serious cases, removal from the community. Our goal is to maintain a supportive environment built on trust and high-quality care, so consistently following these guidelines is expected from you.

Please note: this is only a guide and is not an exhaustive list. In general, you are expected to behave professionally, check with the dog parent/DogStays and make sure you are not breaking any house rules.
