For Dog Sitter

The DogStays Sitter Network is our vibrant community of dog lovers who enjoy caring for dogs. While members of our community come from many different backgrounds, they share a passion for dogs. Once you join this network, you become part of a group of individuals who love dogs as much as you do, are dedicated to providing dogs the best care possible, and want to help dogs find a safe, homely environment when their paw-rents are away!

Becoming part of the DogStays Sitter Network allows you to dog sit according to your preferences and as and when you have time. Not only that, while you focus on spending time with the dogs you love, we manage everything else! Dog sitting with DogStays means flexibility and the opportunity to care for dogs while enjoying our team’s support. You can update your availability, choose the services you want to offer, and enjoy the companionship of different dogs without the long-term commitment of owning one. If that wasn’t enough, we also provide each dog sitter in the community with the protection of insurance, which means you can truly enjoy dog sitting to the utmost!

From matching you to bookings that will bring you the most joy to sending you useful resources related to each booking, we make sure you always have support with your dog sitting. Not only that, we also communicate with dog parents on your behalf, manage your availability, coordinate your bookings, and make sure you have all the information you need for each booking so you can relax and just enjoy time with your furry friends!

The DogStays application process is a step-by-step process designed to help us understand your motivations as well as experience with dogs so we can better assess if you are a good fit for our community. You can start by visiting this page on our website.

Every member of our community goes through a detailed but simple 2-step application process. During the different stages of this process, we will ask you to share information with us about why you want to become a dog sitter, tell us about your experience with dogs, share your identity and address documentation with us, and most importantly, choose your dog sitting preferences so we can match you to dogs you will love! Our process is designed to be detailed, but don’t worry, we will guide you through it, and we are always here to help!

Yes, you need experience caring for dogs to join our dog sitter network. This could be experienced as a dog parent/dog owner with your own dog(s) or experience as a dog sitter caring for other people’s dogs. We are seeking community members who understand what caring for a dog means and are familiar with both the joys and responsibilities of dog care.

We ask each member of our network to upload proof of identity and valid address documentation as part of our onboarding process. This is a security measure and helps to make our service more secure and safe for the dogs in our care.

You’ll need to provide a valid ID document and proof of residence like a Certificate of Residence (if you live in Luxembourg), a recent utility bill (gas, electricity, water etc.) or another valid and recent government document with your name and address on it.

Absolutely. DogStays treats your privacy and data security with the utmost care. Your documents are used solely for vetting purposes and are never shared with anyone.

If you experience any issues while submitting your documents, feel free to reach out to the DogStays team at contact@dogstays.lu, and we will guide you through the process.

We create a calendar for each member of our DogStays network. This allows you to share your availability for bookings with us. You can login to your DogStays profile and update your calendar anytime.

Once you join DogStays, you’ll have access to your personal calendar. You can mark the days you are unavailable, and DogStays will automatically exclude you from booking requests on those dates. So, if you’re going on vacation in November, simply mark those dates as unavailable.

Yes! You can adjust your calendar anytime. Just make sure to update your availability as soon as possible to avoid booking conflicts.

When we receive a booking request that is a good match for your preferences and for dates when you are available, we will connect with you and share details. If you are interested in the booking, we will arrange a meeting with the dog and dog parent. Once you meet them you can simply let us know if you are comfortable proceeding. If both you and the dog parent are comfortable we will process the booking, block your calendar, and send you documentation as well as care information for your new furry friend.

Absolutely. You are free to decline a booking if you feel that the dog isn’t a good match after meeting with the dog and dog parent.

Meeting the dog parent, and more importantly, the dog, is not only a good introduction to the dog you might care for but also a chance to observe the dog yourself and ask the dog parent any questions you have. This face-to-face interaction helps ensure that both you and the dog parent are comfortable before proceeding with the booking.

Before each meeting with the dog parent, we will send you some suggestions on what to discuss at the meeting. Some useful questions include: How comfortable is the dog around strangers? Does the dog have any medical needs or specific routines? Are there any behaviours to be aware of? Questions like these will help you better understand the dog’s needs and what would be required from you during the booking.

If, after the meeting, you feel uncomfortable or unsure about the booking, you can just let us know and we will manage the process with the dog parent and check for an alternate match from the community. You are absolutely not obligated to proceed if you don’t feel the dog is a good match for you.

We expect all community members to be 100% sure before confirming any booking, especially since dog parents often plan travel and other details after getting confirmation. Cancellations are a big inconvenience not just for dog parents but also for us. However, if there’s an emergency, we would be happy to assist and also help find an alternate solution.

Yes, DogStays makes sure that all sitters are protected by insurance during DogStays bookings. This means an extra layer of protection that safeguards you and even the dogs you care for, in case of unexpected situations. You can read more about this insurance here.
